Teasers, Trailers & DVD's
a Beyond the Shire report by Michelle
Laundhardt
Before
I even begin my duties as the first and official Field Reporter for
Heren Istarion, I would like to thank Anthony Burdge and Jessica Burke
for giving me this opportunity. I only hope I can live up to their
expectations.
As I inaugurate this column, two major events have popped up in the
world of the Ringer: the teaser poster for The Return Of The King
and the pre-order sale for the Extended Edition of The Two Towers.
The teaser poster is just that. For the non-book reader, it needs
explanation. But for us, the Tolkien community, it needs none. It
features Aragorn holding Anduril in his hands. A nice glimpse of it
can be found at the official New Line Cinema store.
The
Extended Edition of
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers... is already on
pre-order even before the theatrical version goes on sale! The latter
is available August 26 and the former, November 18. Besides adding
40 minutes of uncut scenes, the Collector’s Edition will include
a polystone statue of Smeagol with a certificate for a discount
of the statue of Gollum from Sideshow/Weta. At present. Click on
the above link to pre-order today. New Line has announced that it
will not release a special edition of all three movies in one set
after the release of The Return Of The King.
I know we have all been waiting for a trailer
for Return Of The King. We all thought it was going to be
at end of Two Towers just like that movie was at the end
of The Fellowship of the Ring. Well, now according to the
New Line website:
“The decision has been made to
release only one trailer for ROTK but to make it the most
"kick ass" trailer on screens this September, laden with spectacular
special effects and powerful emotional elements. The exact debut
date for this trailer will depend on how quickly Peter Jackson can
finish the sfx shots so for the moment it's a floating trailer release
date, as early as the beginning of September, but no later than
September 26.”
That’s a long wait from March! Oh, well!
