Friday November 1st was a night to remember, if you were there! Heren Istarion and Barnes and Noble Astor PLace presented a night of The Two Towers. We read selections from the 2nd book in the epic trilogy, and had a great discussion with those who attended. We then turned our attention to Tolkien Jeopardy, we selected 9 members of the audience to partake in 4 rounds of TTT trivia. In among the group was members of Heren Istarion as well as friends from Gathering of the Fellowship, visit the programming department of GOTF for a look at what we are doing thus far. In an effort to further bring Tolkien Society UK members and smials together we have created a US Smials page to let those who live outside of New York the news and location of other smials across the U.S.A ---Anthony and Jessica

Having come to our site today you undoubtedly have seen our reviews for the Lord of the Rings Movie tie-in books released today. To help further celebrate Lord of the Rings day our friend, and staff member Dennis Reulbach has put together a very informative and nicely done page from our November 1st The Two Towers event!

Well Jess and I have been to Toronto and back, and have been through The Two Towers exhibit several times. One thing though, we were under the impression that pictures could be taken within the museum, from all the pictures that have appeared on the web, but apparently picture taking is prohibited. We took some great notes, and have been working on a great piece by piece look at the exhibit. Also we were able to take a look at the event space for the Gathering of the Fellowship next year, and it will be a glorious reproduction of some of your favorite areas of Middle Earth reproduced. Our Staff Artist Catherine will be designing the space for the event, as well as Heren Istarion providing 18 hours of Tolkien Programming in the first 2 days of the event. Mark your calenders for December 3rd Barnes and Noble Astor Place's reading discussion of Beowulf, Tolkien's greatest influence. Visit our North American Smials page for the latest additions and news to all the North American Smial of the Tolkien Society UK. ---Anthony and Jessica
